Week 1 Discussion Questions

1. Dr. Gilmore described racial capitalism as using the unequal hierarchy that capitalism has to take advantage of particular races and exploiting them of labor. Dr. Gilmore talked described the two as basically coming hand in hand with eachother. Certain races are often neglected and not given what the rest of society is.
2. Abolitionist geography to places such as the municipality of Amadora which is where Dr. Gilmore mentioned. This was where the people living there conflicted because of not being able to properly maintain their households. This was untimately linked to racism and it was location based which is why it falls under abolitionist geography.
